Brainstorming with the Food Systems Network NYC

I love my work! I love the people I work with! One of the groups I am active with is Food Systems Network NYC. Today, the strategic planning committee (including moi) led a brainstorming with about 40 members to generate ideas about the vision of this 3- year old group. We had group discussions, break out sessions, information sharing, presentations and a lot of enthusiasm and GREAT ideas. Leaders in New York City Food Systems attended at Cornell Cooperative Extension on East 34th Street. Folks from NY State Department of Ag and Markets, City Harvest, World Hunger Year, United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Just Food, Council on the Environment NYC, farmers, NYC Department of Education and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Heifer International, Union Square CafĂ©, Slow Food, Children’s Aid Society, WEACT, West Side Campaign Against Hunger and several nutrition educators, school food consultants, and me, a writer, nutrition counselor and food systems strategist.

FSNYC is member organization for New Yorkers working with food, hunger, nutrition and farming related people to meet and collaborate to support improved nutrition and public health, increase access wholesome food regardless of socio-economic background and strengthen and expand the regional farm and food economy.
