Time is Running Out...SAVE THE PIKE FARM STAND!

PLEASE HELP US SAVE THE PROPERTY FROM DEVELOPMENT. SUPORT PECONIC LAND TRUST PIKES/HOPPINGS PROJECT (and a nod the the financial markets turmoil with depression prices for tomatos at $11/7 lbs)

One of the key reasons I am so interested in food and local farm food is because of the farmland and farmstands on Long Island's south (and north) forks. For me, it's my childhood, who I am -- hey after all you are what you eat. When I see farm acreage slipping into the hands of developers, my heart sinks. Pike's Farm Stand, however, I take personally -- my husband and I used to buy a lot of our fresh produce from Pike's Farm Stand in Sagaponack (we were on Bridge Lane just down the road on Sagg Pond) before we moved to Shinnecock Hills/Southampton.

Read the article in the Southampton Press "Deadline Looming for plan to save the Pike Farm Stand" to get more information about how not only neighbors, but the Town of Southampton and Peconic Land Trust are trying to help the Pikes raise over $8 million for 7.6 acres (only in the Hamptons). For more history on the farm check out "For The Love Of Corn And Peaches, Sagaponack Rallies To Save Pike's Farm"
