Southampton Farmers Market Opens, Finally!

Photo (Lexi Van de Walle): Week 2 of the New Southampton Farmers Market

OUTSTANDING.... I now have a Sunday farmers market that is only 5 minutes from my house (versus 20 minutes to either Sag Harbor or Westhampton). It's on the way home from my standing pilates appointment at Symmetry Studio on Sundays so suspect this will be a weekly stop for me. Yes!

After some debate over whether Southampton should start a farmers market or not, last Sunday was the first day. I had house guests (life in the Hamptons in August) so didn't get over there until week 2. They are off to a good start with Fat Ass Fudge, Balsam Farms, Mecox Dairy, and a bunch of other stalls including local wine, locally made jams and spice rubs, delicious granola by a homegrown/homemade farmer couple and more.... THANK YOU BONNIE CANNON, TRUSTEE OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTHAMPTON for having the strength of character to stick to what you believe in.

Read a few articles about the market and shake your head in disbelief over the stupidity of making a relatively tiny, community driven farmers market something to be afraid of:
