Strawberry season is in full swing in the Northeast particularly on Long Island's East End and the tri-state area. I grabbed a few quarts from Amagansett's Balsam Farms on Friday at the Hayground School Farmers Market in Bridgehampton and picked up another quart on Saturday. Hank's Farmstand, one of my faves for strawberries and near my house in Southampton, was open -- can't wait to stop by there when I'm back in Southampton on Thursday.

Here are some of the things I like to do with strawberries: sliced strawberries plain or with Greek yogurt, smoothies, homemade ice creams and sorbets/ices, strawberry shortcake, add to a savory salad, drunken strawberries (vodka) over ice cream, dipped in chocolate, in a frozen cocktail or floating in sangria punch, strawberry cheesecake, in a compote over pancakes and waffles, paired with rhubarb in a homemade pie and strawberry flavored milk.
